It's About Way More Than Storytelling

Don’t get me wrong, I love sharing stories and will absolutely be doing plenty of that on here! However, I don’t want to simply share stories with y’all for the sake of sharing. I want to share stories so that I can connect with you. I likely won’t be your “typical” blogger, but I want you to find relatable, useful, and/or beneficial content. I want you to read my posts and feel like you belong, like you have someone who understands you, even if you’ve never actually met me.

With that being said I’m going to give you a few warnings. One, I promise you can’t expect a “theme” from me. While my website is beautiful and follows a color palette that I love, that’s as far as the planning goes. When I decided to start a website/blog, the only plan I had was to share the things that I love and to share information on topics that are important to me. That could range from food, to clothes, to travel, to more serious topics like losing a family member or stepping out of your comfort zone to go after your dreams.

Two, I promise I’ll always be honest with you. If you saw my three fun facts on the homepage of the site, you saw that I’m an enneagram type 8. You’ll be able to read more details on my type and my love for enneagram in a different post, but for now all you need to know is that type 8’s are known for their honesty (among other things). I will never sugar coat anything and will always give it to you straight, so you can always count on me to tell an honest story as well as give an honest opinion and feedback.

Three, I’m 100000% not a writer! In school english/language arts was my worst subject. I’m a math and science girl at heart, so spelling, grammar, and punctuation are not my strong suit. Thank God for spell check, am I right?! So, I ask that you give me a little grace when you find some errors as you’re reading along.

Before I keep going and ask you to join me on this journey I should probably tell you a little bit more about me so you know who you’re hanging out with! Obviously, my name is Brittany. Some of my friends and family call me Britt, but I don’t have a preference and will answer to either as long as they’re spelled right. I have the sweetest fur baby, Rory, who I love like she is my real life child instead of a dog child. I’m the oldest of four with two sisters and one brother. One of my sisters is biological and my other sister and brother are my siblings through marriage/adoption, but I love them all the same and couldn’t imagine my life without them. We have two of the most amazing parents in the whole world! I also have tons of cousins, aunts, and uncles that I’m very close with plus the most amazing grandma any of us could ask for! Family is one of the most important things to me and you’ll end up hearing about my family a lot as I write more and you read more.

I’m a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) in the Central Illinois area and specifically work with pediatric patients. I absolutely love my kiddos and love knowing that I get to play a role in shaping their futures! I’m also an independent consultant with Rodan + Fields and didn’t expect to love it as much as I do. It truly has been an amazing blessing and is one of the reasons I was brave enough to start my website! I use words like “work” and “job” lightly because they rarely feel like work and I love both of my “jobs” so much. They’re both things I’ll share with you and can’t wait to share more about both as they’re both huge parts of my life!

Outside of dog mom, family, OT, and entrepreneur life, I love working out, traveling, shopping, reading, and eating. They’re truly some of my favorite things and you will be hearing about all of them regularly! I also have a great skill of strategically placing a cuss word in a sentence to really make my point and love doing it, but I know not everyone can appreciate that and that’s ok! I’ll do my best to keep it to a minimum here, however I can’t guarantee that this will be a 100% cuss-free zone. I’m convinced that it’s a stress reliever and is just necessary in my life sometimes. At least I warned you!

If you’ve made it this far, thank you! I’m sure there’s so much more about me that I can share, but you’ll get to know me more as I write more. I hope that you’ll follow along with my non-themed, very honest, typo filled posts and can’t wait to get to know you more along the way!
